3 Malfunctioning Thermometers?
So last night the tech came in and took Laurens vitals (as they do every 4 hours) and her temp registered 100.4 degrees...
Her normal temp is around 97. 100.4 is considered a low grade fever here. Fever can equal infection.
...So after the tech stuttered for a sec she said lets take that again. 100.4 again. Then she said lets take it under the arm pit. 98.9 (then you add a degree or two which wold put it back around 100). Crap.
Lets try a different thermometer. Second thermometer had readings like 97.2, 99.5, and 98.5. ??? Lets try a less fancy thermometer (The first two were those fancy ones that take readings in 3 seconds). That one takes about 2 minutes to get a reading but so far seems to be stable around 98.
What does that mean? Nothing yet apparently. Her white blood count is normal and thats the real indicator of infection. So for now we go back to... you guessed it... waiting.
